GARBAGE & RECYCLING CHANGES

Garbage and Recycling Service Changes

On July 17th, City Council unanimously approved Option 2 (see below for details) for our new waste/recycling collection contract with Republic Services. Option 2 continues with our waste collection twice per week and our recycling collection once per week. Your current weekly schedule for waste and recycling collection will remain the same for the new contract. However, we'll now switch from rear-load to side-load collection. As we implement this contract, here is what you can expect:

❗During the week of August 14th-18th, new side-load containers will be delivered to each Garden Ridge residence. This initial delivery will be for one 96-gallon container (black cover) for trash and one 96-gallon container (blue cover) for recycling. For an additional monthly fee, residents may request additional containers by either calling City Hall or emailing the Utility Clerk

❗Side-load collection of waste and recycling will begin the week of August 21st-25th during the new billing cycle. All contents MUST fit into the new 96-gallon containers.

❗Residents who wish to dispose of their existing waste and recycling bins/cans/containers may bring these items to the drop off site located at the end of Municipal Parkway beginning Saturday, August 19th through Friday, September 29th (see below for map and schedule). These items will be loaded into containers and disposed of by Republic Services as a courtesy to their customers.
