Election Information

The City of Garden Ridge will be holding a General Election on May 6, 2017 for the purpose of electing a Mayor, City Councilmember, Place 2, and City Councilmember, Place 3.  

Mayor 
The Mayor’s position is a two-year term. 


Qualifications for Mayoral candidates- Type A City (Local Gov't Code, Section 22.032)
 * Residence -- 1 year in the State of Texas prior to the filing deadline; 1 year in City of Garden Ridge prior to election day
*  Age -- 18
*  Must be a registered voter in territory elected from by the filing deadline.


Alderman (Councilmember)
Councilmember positions are a two-year term. 

Qualifications for Alderman (Councilmember) candidates-Type A City (Local Gov't Code, Section 22.032)
  *  Residence -- 1 year in State of Texas prior to filing deadline; 6 months in the City of Garden Ridge prior to filing deadline (Texas Elec. Code, Section 141.001(a); Brown v. Patterson, 609 SW 2nd 287)
   *  Age -- 18
   *  Must be a registered voter in territory elected from by the filing deadline.

Voting Machines

In Comal County, the Hart Intercivic eSlate Voting Machines are used for voting.  The City of Garden Ridge will be using these machines in their elections.  The machines are easy to use, but click on Voting Machines  to learn how to use them.
